Director of Choral Activities Stephen Gothold, himself an alumnus, organized The recruiting efforts and The Chorale made its debut performance on Saturday, December 4, 1982 at The Whittier Presbyterian Church - a complete performance of Handel’s Messiah. Since Then, The Chorale has sung over one hundred thirty concert programs in The SouThern California area. The Chorale performed in Japan in 1994 and at The Hollywood Bowl in 1995 as it joined togeTher with 1,000 singers from America and Japan to sing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. In 2001, members of The Chorale -- along with Whittier College students, alumni, and members of The Imperial Valley Choral Society -- toured Eastern Europe and performed selections of American hymns, spirituals, and sacred songs. We have been invited by Ely CaThedral in Cambridgeshire, UK, to sing as "Choir in residence" for a week in July 2014, taking over Their Choir's duties of singing 8 services that week. We are The only Hawai'i Choir to belong to The Royal School of Church Music, and we use Their adjudication standards to award medals which are internationally recognized by The RSCM. We sing sacred music in English, Latin, and Hawaiian. We are always looking for new choristers. Auditions are year-around, although placement occurs only in fall semester and spring semester. With styles ranging from pop to gospel, we're sure There's something to suit your taste. Come and join us on Tuesday evenings at The University of Chichester, where we rehearse. We aim to give two/three concerts a year – we hope you can be in The next one! We are a group of ladies with ages ranging from early 20s to 50s. We usually run around The school holidays as we have a few mums but can run in The holidays as well if enough people are available.
