We rehearse at the Bundoora campus of La Trobe University, Victoria, Australia on Wednesday nights from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
Our objectives are to rehearse and perform choral music, to participate in InterVarsity Choral Festivals and to do whatever else seems relevant.
The Society is a non-auditioned Choir, but it has been suggested that we could have a small, auditioned group within the society (perhaps called "Graduate Singers" or such like). Another possibility is that we could sing at graduation ceremonies in Union Hall. Another possibility is a joint Concert with another UCS. And what sort of music should we sing? Madrigals? Handel's Messiah?

First and foremost, its name is closely associated with its first conductor Artūrs Bobkovics (1885-1959), who already then had become "the king of Latvian symphonic music". He organized the Concerts of symphonic music and helped promote them. For the first time, the Choir came together in the evening of October 18, when about 90 students gathered at Riga Secondary School No 2. The testing of voices was not very strict, and of the entire enthusiastic crowd only one student was rejected. Then, for a month, rehearsals were held, in which the voices of would-be singers were trained and made to keep in tune. After that another testing was held. This time the competition was much stricter, and only 40 singers were selected. That was the beginning of "Latvia University Student Choir", which, on November 24, 1920, was recognized and affirmed by the University Council as the first official Choir of the n... less

During a Saturday night in June the first open-air Concert took place on one of the most beautiful University campuses in Europe. The event had a picnic character and took place on June 16 in the evening in the courtyard with fountains in front of the Main Building of the Gdańsk University of Technology. The program includes works by Georg Friedrich Handel performed by the Baroque orchestra and academic Choirs from Gdańsk and Kraków, as well as a fireworks show.
The Concert repertoire includes pieces by George Frideric Handel, such as the coronation anthem "Zadok the Priest" and "My Heart is Inditing", "Water Music" and "Music for the Royal Fireworks" were performed. The music scene was set on the stairs in front of the Main Building. The musical side of the evening was made more attractive by the fireworks show, which accompanied the performance of the last part of "Music for the Royal Fireworks". less

With a large repertoire ranging from art to popular music, and stretching from the medieval to the contemporary in style, this Choir gives many Concerts throughout the academic year, both in Ireland and abroad. Following a competitive selection process each September, eighteen gifted students are awarded a scholarship, with recipients of the award coming from a range of academic disciplines across the University, from Music to Medicine, Law, Agricultural Science, Commerce and Engineering.
