Performing a repertoire ranging from Renaissance polyphony to unique jazz and pop arrangements, the group has been praised for stunning performance, exquisite singing and creating a sound that spans the entire range of Vocal colour. Founded in 2003 by ex-choristers of Westminster Abbey, VOCES8 first achieved success in 2005, winning first prize at the International Choral Grand Prix in Gorizia, Italy. Subsequently the group has performed widely in the UK, Europe, the USA, Africa and Asia. VOCES8’s career has developed both in the classical choral scene and the world of a cappella. In 2009, the group’s first commercial album, EVENSONG, was nominated for a CARA. We a...  moreShades of Harmony is a WoMen's A Cappella chorus based in Williamstown, NJ. We are also a member chorus of Sweet Adelines International. We enjoy sharing our love of singing in 4 part harmony with performances throughout the southern New Jersey area. We also attend and compete in the Sweet Adelines Region 19 convention annually. We welcome women of all ages (teens to seniors) and all Vocal ranges to attend a rehearsal and find out what we're all about.

As a composer, I tend to lean toward and connect to slow and emotional pieces. I have always been someone who strives to convey emotional complexity, therefore writing an up-tempo piece had to be purposeful and meaningful. The inspiration for this score comes from the first time I was able to hear my son's heartbeat during an ultrasound. It was a magical and exciting moment that I will never forget; however, leading up to that specific moment there was an element of tension. Six months prior to hearing my son's heartbeat, my wife and I found ourselves in a very different situation with the outcome of an ultrasound. We arrived at the hospital excited to meet our child, only to discover we had silently miscarried. I had never felt so deflated and aimless in one sudden moment. It was as if I was a boat, drifting, with no direction in my life. Fast forward to this ultrasound with our soon-to-be son. You can imagine the excitement and fear we bo...    less
