The Chorale is the premier, choral ensemble of the University. Students who have been...  moreThe Chorale is the premier, choral ensemble of the University. The ensemble consists of approximately 24-32 vocalists selected through a voice placement process and performs traditional/advanced choral literature from all periods. Students who have been active in choral ensembles in high school or college are encouraged to audition for this Choir. Auditions for Chorale can take place at anytime to fill necessary spots in the group. Once students are selected for Chorale, they are members until they choose to leave, are removed, or when they graduate. In addition to its regular concert schedule, the Chorale tours each spring (Orlando, ’09; NYC, ’10; Atlanta, ’11, Boston, ’12, Orlando, ’13). A yearly scholarship is offered to people who are successfully placed in the group.  less

Performing a repertoire ranging from Renaissance polyphony to unique jazz and pop arrangements, the group has been praised for stunning performance, exquisite singing and creating a sound that spans the entire range of vocal colour. Founded in 2003 by ex-choristers of Westminster Abbey, VOCES8 first achieved success in 2005, winning first prize at the International Choral Grand Prix in Gorizia, Italy. Subsequently the group has performed widely in the UK, Europe, the USA, Africa and Asia. VOCES8’s career has developed both in the classical choral scene and the world of a cappella. In 2009, the group’s first commercial album, EVENSONG, was nominated for a CARA. Resonance Ensemble, a professional vocal ensemble, performs powerful concerts promoting meaningful social change. Our performances intentionally address themes highlighting diverse solo and choral voices, new and underrepresented composers, visual and other performing arts, and community partners. Resonance seeks to reflect on the most pressing social issues of our times through performing new Music and sharing many perspectives. As Oregon Arts Watch wrote in June 2019, “they do social justice Music justice: their concerts are part social commentary, part group therapy, and part best damn Choir show in town.” Our concerts are designed to reflect the times, and audience members often tell us that they see their experiences reflected in our thought-provoking performances.  less

On its first attempt at ...  moreFormally organized in August 2006, the Ars Cantica Ensemble is a choral group composed of young professionals from different university Choirs who want to spread the Word of God through Musical talent and commitment to service. On its first attempt at competitions in 2007, the group won Second Runner-Up in the prestigious PAGCOR Chorale Festival and was chosen as one of the top five winners in the Paskong Himig sa Lungsod ng PASIG Chorale Competition. In December 2007, the Ars Cantica Ensemble was featured at the Opening Ceremonies of the Amazing European Union Christmas held at The Podium, Ortigas and was one of the Choirs invited to grace the Sing For Me Project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. In February 2010, Ars Cantica Ensemble emerged as one of the winners in Sa ‘Yo Lamang Chorale Fest, a choral competition sponsored by ABS-CBN and Star Records. During its 25 years of activity, the ensemble has won several first prizes in choral competitions in Israel and Europe, performed in many Musical festivals and events, as well as TV shows and radio programs. The ensemble collaborated with top Israeli Musicians such as Yoni Rechter, Alon Olearchik and many more.
