Siyabonga Dlamini and Sibusiso Sithole, with the primary objective (/s) of rehearsing and performing choral Music, providing Musical services to the community when the need arises, to provide a Musical home for all interested in the greater Pretoria and Johannesburg area and to promote the standard of choral Music. Secondarily Tswelopele aims to educate its members in the singing of all types of choral Music, arrange concerts for the general public to attend, perform choral works with other Choirs and participate in various competitions and Music festivals in the community. the Choir currently consists of 48 choristers. the Choir being fairly young went to its first (TCMA) competition on October 18th 2015, winning first place in the development section. the Choir has since went on to perform at Computeshare and Standard Bank respectively. All members of QVE, the singers range in disciplines from Music to Engineering to the Arts. Afterglow performs frequently throughout St. John’s, including being featured guests on CBC Radio, local television, Festival 500, as well as community concerts and fundraisers. the group writes their own arrangements and began presenting full concerts last spring. Afterglow was one of 11 groups selected world-wide to partake in the Small Vocal Ensembles component of international biennial Festival 500 in July 2011. This will include masterclasses and individual coaching sessions with Bob Chilcott and Finnish group, Rajaton. Equally at home singing Renaissance Music and jazz, they also write their own compositions and arrangements, often combining old and new styles in Music tailored to their unique vocal colours. One of the ensemble’s long-time interests has been the poetry of Clément Marot in 16th-century chanson.
