The group was formed with some of Brisbane’s best and most experienced ensemble Singers, most of whom sing regularly with other choirs in and around the city and have extensive performing and touring experience both around Australia and internationally. The Singers range across an assortment of careers, from educators to environmental engineers, and from students to musicians. They are drawn together because of their passion for singing and produce an energy in performance that immediately connects with their audience. In programming, Fusion specialises in early and new music – from Jean Mouton and Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla to Cyrillus Kreek, Arvo Pärt, and Henryk Mikolaj Górecki. The ensemble prides itself on delivering an artistic product that combines choral maturity with youthful vibrancy to bring a fresh sound to music that is not often performed in the region.  less

They soon found a community of Singers who are equally passionate about the energy and intimacy of Chamber choral music performed at a high caliber. Its creative efforts and dynamic development in 1999 permitted the choir under the sponsorship of t...  moreThe POKROFF (translation: Protection of the Virgin Mary) Chamber Choir was set up in 1993 by its director and trumpeter Andrey Goryachev as a church choir. Its creative efforts and dynamic development in 1999 permitted the choir under the sponsorship of the Voice of Russia Radio Company to record its first CD – “Divinity in Sound”. Two more CDs were recorded in 2003 and 2005, devoted to Christmas and Easter. Since 2000 the choir began touring not only in Russia but also abroad, visiting Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, France, Italy, Ukraine, Moldavia, Croatia, Montenegro, BiH and Estonia. The choir also took part in television shows in Russia and abroad, such as in the “Bregenzer Advent” in 2002. Apart from regular concerts and recordings, the choir also minds it spiritual roots, regularly taking part in church services, both routine and special ceremonial, such as Episcopal services at which it frequently performs. Its activities soon expanded and now include a regular concert programme, weddings and services throughout Staffordshire and the West Midlands, and guest appearances at other cathedrals. The Choir has a versatile repertoire of sacred and secular music ranging from the Renaissance to the contemporary, and it enjoys the challenge of new and experimental writing.
