Noel Noel Noel bells ring out with Joy! No wraps No festooned curtains spread to shield the child from frost nothing but flimsy spider webs trail from the beams aloft. He shivers in that cold stable this Jesus child so dear, and so to warm him in the cradle, the ass and ox draw near. The snow hangs down in lacy fringe. We "sing for the the sheer Joy of it&...  moreThis choir is part of Community Development by Hope Citadel Health Care and the Salvation Army Eden project in Fitton Hill Oldham. It is open to all no matter what musical background, if any you may have. We "sing for the the sheer Joy of it" and do local concerts. Recently we have sung at a large church inter-denominational christmas gathering and the highlight of the year to sing at a wedding at the request of the Bride and Groom.

I started this almost immediately after my first choral video went up. Robin Adair arranged for SATB choir (sung, transposed down in this video, by the one-man multitrack choir dwsChorale) [Note: a few textual errors have crept into the performance - but the score has the correct words] The original tune was composed...  moreRobin Adair arranged for SATB choir (sung, transposed down in this video, by the one-man multitrack choir dwsChorale) [Note: a few textual errors have crept into the performance - but the score has the correct words] The original tune was composed with the words Eibhlin a Ruin (Ellen Aroon or Eileen Aroon) by the Irish bard Carroll O'Daly (14th Century), although it was later attributed to the 18th century Irish composer Charles Coffey (this was presumably an arrangement of the original). The words of "Robin Adair" itself are understood to be by Lady Caroline Keppel, who was in love with a surgeon by that name. (This seems more likely than the theory that Robert Burns wrote it, although Burns certainly knew Keppel's lyrics and made his own parodies upon the words). Some later versions of the melody contain "Scotch snaps" but this version follows the simplest melodic line, without the Scotch snaps - possibly O'Daly's original tune? - and with quite romantic choral harmonies.  less

The work is a melancholic love song that is based on a folk like melody underlined by a constant pedal point, resembling the sound of bagpipes.

They are every man in the street but with one thing in common,they love to sing and entertain.The choir is renowned for there entertainment value as well as there singing. No venue is too small or too big.The choir regularly sings for charitable organisations and has over the years raised several thousands of pounds. Musical Director Judith Pinguey prides herself on the varied music the choir sings and has a very progressive outlook on MVC Music and likes to challange the pre concieved image of a male voice choir.  less
