set to music for six part mixed voices SAT-SAT)
The title of this work (Canticula Ursae Minoris/songs of the Little Bear) comes from the origin of the melodies:
Many years ago I wrote an "Oratorio" based on Winnie the Pooh (The Expotition to the North Pole)
and gave each character little melodic leitmotifs,
such as "Sing ho for the life of a bear" (which becomes "to be a light to lighten the Gentiles" in the Nunc Dimittis),
"They all went off to discover the pole" (which is the initial theme of the Magnificat)
and "What I say, said Eeyore, is that it's unsettling" (which becomes the "Glory be to the Father" section at the end of each canticle)
The original and much simpler "oratorio" work, called Poohratorio of course, may be published once AA Milne goes into public domain (2031).

It is a meditation on the meaning of transubstantiation.
I have also made a French translation and a German translation of the piece (also including the Latin introduction)

Hoc est enim corpus meum
The world's eternity lies here within my hand.
The weight of pain, of love, redemption is a sigh upon my hand,
My Christ, Lord of the infinite,
small to my comfort in my hand.
Humility of Love that tender here lies low.
White, trusting, full of care within my hand.
So, in my hand lies God.
Hoc est enim corpus meum. less

Oh, do not sleep friend, through this night.
You a soul, while we are suffring through this night
Banish slumber from your eyes!
The great secret is revealed in this night.
You are Jove in the high heavens,
Round heavns starry dome you circle in this night!
Like an eagle fly above!
Now a hero is your soul in this night.
Such a quiet, others sleep
I and God alone together in this night!
What a roar! Joy arises,
Truth with gleaming wing is shining in this night!
Do not sleep friend,
If I slumbered until sunrise,
I should never, never see this night again!
Thorough fares on earth are silent.
There behold the starry roads of this night.
