As a part of the historic community of Worcester Cathedral, the Choir has gained a reputation for musical sensitivity and ground breaking performance. The Choir was founded in 1998 by its musical director, Stephen Shellard, in order to draw together a group of high quality singers from the local area to develop a concert repertoire and further enrich the choral tradition of Worcester Cathedral. The establishment of the Choir made history as, for the first time since its foundation nearly 1000 years ago, Worcester Cathedral included women's voices as a part of its musical life.  less

Gospel Choir is based in Essex, but occasionally strays beyond! Celebrating our tenth anniversary in 2013, the Choir was formed in 2003 after director Jen and accompanist Jane were missing taking part in music, having left university. Starting well, with about 15 members the Choir has fluctuated in size, settling early on into a Choir of 8. In 2010 however, the Choir doubled in size and we are pleased that this core of almost 20 people has stuck! Choir members range from 7 years old to 77! We are a sociable bunch with an emphasis on singing for fun. We don’t put people through an audition and being able to read music isn’t necessary. A good third of the Choir don't read music. Being able to sing in tune is an advantage though! We have performed at weddings and parties across Essex and Suffolk, for the Women's Institute, local Churches, at fetes, town open nights and charity concerts at the Mercury, Headgate and Towngate theatres. We don't pay our singers for performing - we do it for the love! ...    less

The Choir performs every Sunday evening in the Roman Catholic cathedral of St. Colman's, a majestic building situated on a hill in the town famed for being the last port of call for the Titanic. The membership of the Choir has grown considerably in the last five years and it now boasts more than 30 voices. The Choir is a previous winner at the world famous Cork Choral Festival and has travelled to Vienna, London and Italy to perform at various events. In 2009 the Choir was honored to be asked to sing in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City for the Sunday liturgy. That same year they also performed at Westminster Cathedral. They have been asked back to St. Peter's in July 2013 to perform again.
