Our aim was to capture a serious English Boys Choir poise while making the most of the poems playful spookiness, so we elicited help from the men of the chorus to try and 'frighten' the women singing.

The New Jersey Chamber Singers (NJCS) is the premier Vocal chamber Ensemble of the Jersey Shore. It was founded in 1978 by Dr. Jeffrey Unger for the sole purpose of providing quality performances of choral music written for the small Ensemble. In the 32 years of its existence, NJCS has presented concerts throughout New Jersey and beyond. NJCS was chosen to represent New Jersey at the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division convention in Baltimore in 1984 and again in Philadelphia in 1988. In June 1991, by invitation of the Bishop of Washington, D.C., NJCS performed at the National Cathedral. In December 1998, NJCS was the guest of the Orpheus Club of Philadelphia and performed in their annual Christmas concert at The Academy of Music. In 1999, NJCS performed at Alice Tully Hall in New York City.
MEMBERSHIP

The Student Union Choir of the University of Turku (TYY Choir for short, established in 1987) is a mixed Choir of approximately 60 singers from all the faculties and even outside the University. In August 2009, Mikko Sidoroff started his work as the Choir’s conductor.
The Choir’s repertoire mainly consists of a wide variety of a cappella songs. The Choir can be found performing in Turku as well as other cities many times throughout the year. Traditionally, there is a quartet concert in January, a spring concert right after May Day (Vappu) and an advent concert in December.
The TYY Choir has participated in many venues outside of Turku. The Choir represented Finland in the international Choir competition in Coleraine, Ireland in 2006. The competition could not have gone any better as the Choir won in the category of mixed Choir and was given the award as best Choir. Written by Eric Blomberg, the poem/lyrics speak of a lonely Earth, blanketed by the dark cover of night, suspended in an ocean of stars.
