Cantate is a mixed-voice youth choir based in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire. It is open to all young Singers, whatever their background and musical upbringing. Cantate comprises three choirs for children and young people which all perform to an exceptionally High standard. Cantate performed at the Royal Albert Hall, both in the BBC and Schools Prom Concerts, the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, the Guildhall London, 10 Downing Street, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Basilica of St Francis in Assisi, St Mark’s Basilica in Venice, and in many local and regional venues. Cantate has gained many national and international awards. In 2008 we achieved international acclaim at the world’s largest Choral event – the World Choir Games in Graz, Austria – in which over 430 choirs from some 90 countries competed. Here, our lovely singers have made it into a conversation – a shared experienced between the women. It’s been beautifully arranged by Moira Smiley and Vida, but was written by John Prine, a Chicago folk musician. There are two new singers in this ensemble: Rosi, a deep dark bass, standing back left, and Marie, sitting at the front right with the cowboy hat on. Both singers have been a wonderful addition to our choir. Adele in the rocking chair, Annabelle standing right, and Katherine with baby Erin (who LOVES harmony!) complete the group, all of which you have seen many times in Concert! We love the song and hope you do too. With this song, we are raising money for a charity close to our hearts, Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton. Throughout both lockdowns they have had a huge number of call outs, as more people have been exploring the moors and getting into difficulties.
