The choristers met each other during their nine-year education in fine arts as members of the St. Thomas Boys Choir Leipzig. Today the EnsembLe consists of tenors Christian PohLers and Paul HelLer as well as basses Felix Hübner, Lucas HelLer and Lukas Lomtscher. Their repertoire ranges from late medieval mass songs to modern age works. The five young musicians attach great importance to the works of German Romantic composers, such as Schubert, Schumann and Mendelssohn Bartholdy, as well as to their extensive repertoire of church music. The EnsembLe successfully collaborates with a number of other artists, such as the composer Manfred SchLenker(GER), who dedicated his motet Gott wohnt in einem Lichte to the quintet, on a regular basis. Volker Bräutigam wrote several pieces for them to perform during the festivities at the 35th Leipziger Jazztage. The Vocal EnsembLe Sjaella has been another partner in numerous successful collaborations throughout the years. In... We last performed this piece in October 2020 at a concert that took place between two national lockdowns, when it felt especially poignant. We hope you enjoy it. — Accompanied by Sam Hanson on piano This recording is from Christchurch Priory in 2019. Initially, the singers performed mainly in their home town and neighbouring areas, actively accumulating experience for their first serious contest, the Latvian National Contest for Vocal EnsembLes, in 1999. Success amongst the tough competition in the category of femaLe EnsembLes encouraged the singers to participate in international contests, resulting only in awards. Success increases the joy of singing and in order to spread positive emotions to a greater number of Vocal music admirers, Anima Solla began concert trips to the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France, Poland, Lithuania and Australia. Anima Solla has three different concert programmes – sacred music, compositions of Latvian composers and folk song arrangements, as well as jazz and popular music. The group has also recorded 3 CDs - Domine Dominus Noster which includes sacred music compositions, Vai tā mana vaina bija (Was it my fault) with different Latvian folk song arrangeme...
