The score blossomed during a fellowship at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, a pastoral setting that nurtured embracing the poem’s vivid landscape. The piano provides a repeating foundation over which the choir playfully evokes the spare text, using variations of the initial theme throughout. There is a contemplative moment midway, then the pulse resumes, concluding with a gleeful repetition of the last line.
"The Red Wheelbarrow is a wonderfully approachable and fun piece of music. The singers of Inversion had a blast working through the rhythmic lilt and subtly beautiful harmonies, so often found in Rich Campbell's music. The clever musical interpretation brought out the wry humor of the text." Trevor Shaw, Inversion Ensemble AD less

Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est.
(Where kindness and love are, God is there.)
Congregavit nos in unum Christi amor.
(Gather us all as one in Christ’s Love.)
Exsultemus, et in ipso jucundemur.
(Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad!)
Timeamus, et amemus Deum vivum.
(Let us fear, and love the living God.)
Et ex corde diligamus nos sincero.
(And diligently bind our hearts to each other in sincerity.)

Since time immemorial, music, especially singing, and the word have served to create a connection with the gods, with spiritual worlds. Pleading for Words is a special architecture of music and the word that outwardly expresses contact between very different aesthetic criteria but glows with the same devout message: a personal spiritual testimony.
The program concept is based on the attitude toward primary spirituality: from intimate thought to more outwardly expressed manifestations. Slovenian spiritual creativity can be summed up in threefold diversity: confessional, agnostic, and atheist. These works express categories of the incomprehensible, irrational, mystic, and metaphysical. Mysticism is connected with transcendence. This involves a personal testimony about spirituality and a direct reflection of th... less
