As Turkiye's first Barbershop style vocal ensemble, the qartet became the first Turkish member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The quartet has performed at various prestigious venues including Casa Botter, Akbank Sanat, BKM Mutfak, Pera Museum, Borusan Music House, Santa Maria Draperis Church, St. Pierre and St. Paul's Church. In 2017, they received an invitation from Harmony University - Quartet College in Nashville, USA, and became the first Turkish quartet to attend this annual Barbershop convention and performed to international audience. Barbershop Istanbul was greatly appreciated by the audience in Nashville, the birthplace of the genre, as well as in Turkiye. The quartet's repertoire includes not only classical Barbershop arrangements and Barbershop arrangements of popular Music, but also Kaan Bayır's works of popular, traditional and classical turkish Music arranged in Barbershop style.  less

It was founded in 1978 by Dr. Jeffrey Unger for the sole purpose of providing quality performances of choral Music written for the small ensemble. In the 32 years of its existence, NJCS has presented concerts throughout New Jersey and beyond. NJCS was chosen to represent New Jersey at the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division convention in Baltimore in 1984 and again in Philadelphia in 1988. In June 1991, by invitation of the Bishop of Washington, D.C., NJCS performed at the National Cathedral. In December 1998, NJCS was the guest of the Orpheus Club of Philadelphia and performed in their annual Christmas concert at The Academy of Music.
