Brahms’ Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny) contrasts heavenly bliss with the sorrows of the human condition, while Schumann’s Nachtlied evokes the serene world of sleep. Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture portrays the fall of a once all-conquering hero and Mendelssohn’s Die Erste Walpurgisnacht is a dramatic Musical rendition of the clash between nature-worshipping Druidic tradition and new belief in a God disembodied from the natural world. the concert will be conducted by andrew Griffiths, with KCS’s partner orchestra the Thames Camerata, and distinguished soloists, Alexandria Moon, Emyr Lloyd Jones and Ambrose Connolly.
