Coffee chocolate, and cafe au lait Ivoried-saffron and saffroned-ivory, Bronze and brass, copper and rose gold, Tea and pale butter, golden almond, Infinite varieties of browns and tans, Pale rose, pink, and soft rose cream, Mahogany, oak, cedar, and champagne. these are the colors of people I see, Not black and white, not yellow and red. Johansen Choirs are truly honored to re...  more the Johansen High School Vocal Music Department provides our students the opportunity to perform great Choral literature while entertaining local audiences and performing at a variety of civic and community events. Johansen Choirs are truly honored to represent our community in various capacities as well as having the opportunity to tour throughout California, often giving students their first experience outside of Stanislaus County. We are excited that nearly 60 students will participate in the vocal music program at Johansen High School this year. Last year our choirs participated in multiple festivals, sang by invitation at many local events and toured San Diego. the department’s Viking Singers won a contest this summer and sang on stage with Foreigner at the County Fair. these talented students have been invited to participate in Gallo Center for the Arts first ever a cappella festival in April 2013.  less

In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on...  more"Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages" (Ola Gjeilo) is sung by the Central Washington University Chamber Choir (Gary Weidenaar, director), with an improvised piano accompaniment played by the composer. In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus to join the choir in recording 4 of his pieces. the other three were "Sanctus", "Luminous Night of the Soul", and "Vast Eternal Skies" This performance of Gjeilo's "Ubi Caritas II" is from that session, which included a rendition of the piece sung in in its published (unaccompanied) version as well. When founding member Rick Rosen left California in mid-2003 to move back to Bucks County, the original group of west coast singers went on hiatus. In its second life, and with the blessings of the founding Californians, Cordus Mundi was reborn in early 2005 in Bucks County. Now with fifteen voices, the newest incarnation of Cordus Mundi has the flexibility and versatility to expand the group’s musical exploration into new areas - the repertoire is varied and eclectic, and the group includes two composers and several arrangers.
