Our members are mainly from around the Castlebar area, but with five from Ballinrobe, more from Swinford, Kilkelly and BallygLass we now truly represent our county. Under the Musical direction of Deirdre Lee, from Kiltimagh, Deirdre has been our Musical director since the choir’s inception, an honors music graduate of University College Maynooth, having studied under Professor Gerard Gillen. She has been involved in many Musicals and events as Musical director, arranged and conducted. Deirdre is a teacher of music, choir and orchestra in St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar. She has arranged many of the pieces we perform in four part for male voice. which were previously not avaiLable to us. The Or Y-a Choir is a women's choir under the direction of Nomi Teplow. The choir is comprised of women of all ages from all over Samaria in Israel who come together to sing in a variety of Musical styles in close harmony, to learn to sing and to have a good time.

Cantate is a mixed-voice youth choir based in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire. It is open to all young singers, whatever their background and Musical upbringing. Cantate comprises three choirs for children and young people which all perform to an exceptionally high standard. Cantate performed at the Royal Albert Hall, both in the BBC and Schools Prom Concerts, the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, the Guildhall London, 10 Downing Street, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Basilica of St Francis in Assisi, St Mark’s Basilica in Venice, and in many local and regional venues. Cantate has gained many national and international awards. In 2008 we achieved international accLaim at the world’s Largest choral event – the World Choir Games in Graz, Austria – in which over 430 choirs from some 90 countries competed. Cantate won gold and silver medals, and was the only UK choir to win a gold medal in the finals.
