Directed for more than ten Years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans the Renaissance to the present day and has included the Scottish premieres of works by James Whitbourn, Hans Gál, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Richard Bush and Judith Bingham.
The choir performs regularly in GlasGow and central Scotland, and has toured to France, Holland and Sweden, where it has formed links with other choirs.
Recent BBC radio eNGAgements have included William Walton’s Henry V Suite with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Sunday Worship live and Bryan Burnett’s ‘Get it On’ show live on BBC Radio Scotland. The choir features regularly in Raymond Gubbay’s Christmas Festival in the GlasGow Royal Concert Hall. less

Having been friends and in the choral scene for twenty Years, the two have been talking about a project like this for around fifteen Years.
Spurred by the release of the revised English missal, Alejandro and Eugene both thought it a Good time to finally restart the project that they had shelved for some time. Only now, the idea wasn’t just to end with a single album; the idea was now to establish a ministry that would introduce a new generation of music to Philippine Catholics. The new ministry would have as its aim the creation of beautiful music to help the faithful to a more prayerful, solemn state of mind. Springing from that, they both decided that the new ministry would be called Solemne Ministry.

Conducted by their founder Ralph Allwood, the sound of the choir is a reflection of their profound sensitivity to text, blend and phrasing. They use imaginative programming, and have become known for their innovative and exciting performances and their extensive array of recordings.
