We take pride in performing diverse repertoire from many cultures around the world, and in our ability to have fun as we learn.

Anyone wishing to sing is welcome and invited to come to a rehearsal prior to committing to the group. No auditions a...  moreThe Mon Yough Chorale is a non-sectarian group of Singers. We perform for many organizations in and around the Western Pennsylvania area. Anyone wishing to sing is welcome and invited to come to a rehearsal prior to committing to the group. No auditions are necessary. We also sing in a yearly competition called Saengerfest held in June each year. Members chorus' are: Altoona, Williamsport, Reading, Lebanon and Mon Yough. Each chorus hosts the competition on a rotating basis. Rehearsals are held each Sunday at Sampsons MIlls Presbyterian Church at 1665 Lincoln Way in White Oak, PA 15131 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Mon Yough Chorale was formerly known as the Mon Yough Community Singers. The Mon Yough Chorale has a long history in the Mon Valley. The organization started as The McKeesport Choraliers in 1962 merging with the White Oak Community Singers in 2001 becoming the Mon Yough Community Singers. Vinka Buric. The choir is been active and performing in Croatia and abroad. Its performance has been noticed at various competitions. In the near future the choir plans a Christmas concert (22-12-2012) at the Rondo Histriae Concert Hall in Pula. There will be a variety of seasonal classical and popular evergreens.

The opening passage is: “Border, sanctuary, asylum, bridges not walls.” The text draws from (and paraphrases) several sources: contemporary media, Emma Lazarus’ “The New Colossus,” the Bible’s Matthew 25:31-40, currency, and others. The changing meters of “Border” fill the work with an uptempo, rhythmic energy that propels it forward. “Border” is a call for justice, empathy and compassion, a summons to our collective conscience.
