The group was formed in 1976 by women who shared a common interest in the complex harmonies and compelling rhythms typical in Balkan music. Primarily a for-hire performance Ensemble, this group offers its members the chance to develop their skills at a professional level. Many alumni continue on to pursue careers in music performance. This is the flagship Ensemble of Canada's National Arts Network, ArtsConnex.
