En la...  moreLa Escolanía María Auxiliadora (EMA) es un coro de voces blancas que nace en 1997 en el Colegio María Auxiliadora (Salesianas) de Cádiz por iniciativa de Antonio Hernández Asencio, profesor de música del centro y director musical desde su fundación. En la actualidad sus componentes vienen desde distintos centros escolares, institutos y facultades. En sus ya 18 años de historia la EMA ha participado en multitud de concursos, encuentros y congresos con coros de todo el mundo y ha sido invitada a colaborar en galas y proyectos benéficos. Tuvieron especial relevancia los encuentros nacionales en Guadix (Granada), Toledo, Oviedo y Murcia, así como los congresos internacionales en Granada, Estocolmo, Roma y París. En julio de 2012 realizó una intensa gira de siete conciertos en la región de Aveyron (Francia), en abril de 2013 fue invitada al I Festival Internacional de Coros en Casablanca (Marruecos) y en 2014 al Festival Internacional de Canto Coral en Tánger. Director of Choral Activities Stephen Gothold, himself an alumnus, organized The recruiting efforts and The Chorale made its debut performance on Saturday, December 4, 1982 at The Whittier Presbyterian Church - a complete performance of Handel’s Messiah. Since Then, The Chorale has sung over one hundred thirty Concert programs in The SouThern California area. The Chorale performed in Japan in 1994 and at The Hollywood Bowl in 1995 as it joined togeTher with 1,000 singers from America and Japan to sing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. In 2001, members of The Chorale -- along with Whittier College students, alumni, and members of The Imperial Valley Choral Society -- toured Eastern Europe and performed selections of American hymns, spirituals, and sacred songs. We perform at least three Concerts per year with professional orchestras or accompaniment in The major Dublin venues and over The years have undertaken trips to Choral festivals abroad. Two regular events are The ever-popular Christmas Concert in The NCH and The Carmichael Centre’s annual fund-raising Concert in St, Patrick’s CaThedral, formerly on Good Friday but latterly in May.

In The beginning, Greenwood Singers specialized in The performance of a cappella music from different stylistic periods. Its programming has now expanded to include works with soloists, instrumental ensembles and chamber orchestra. A versatile ensemble, The Choir has performed frequently with The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in a wide variety of programs which have included Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, Holst’s The Planets, family Christmas Concerts, The Concert version of Jerome Kern’s Showboat, Orff’s Carmina Burana (with The Alberta Ballet) and The ESO’s 1992 reunion with The British rock group, Procol Harum. The two outer movements draw Their words and inspiration from boisterous cries of 17th century market vendors as once featured in 'The Cries of London' by Orlando Gibbbons. The second movement features The words of a Scottish poet, William Dunbar (c. 1460-c.1520), in which he praises The English capital, and includes The line 'London, thou art The flower of cities all'. TogeTher, These settings evoke a surprisingly contemporary impression of London's sights, sounds, and moods, inspiring some irresistible music, by turns contemplative and unquenchably thrilling. This 'capital' cantata was written in 2001 for The Diamond Jubilee of The Barnet Choral Society, of which Chilcott is President.  less
