They are also the c...  moreThe Birralee Blokes are the winners of the 2012 International Kathaumixw "Choir of the World" award and also the winners of the Youth Section in the same competition, held in Canada in July. They are also the current ABC Classic FM Choir of the Year. In addition to this they were judged Youth Choir of the Year and also received the Listeners' Choice Award. In 2008 they were part of the Channel 7 Battle of the Choirs TV show, making it as far as the quarter finals, where they met their Waterloo with ABBA's song of the same name. Membership is drawn from state and independent secondary schools and universities and there is a strong emphasis placed on inclusion for any young man who enjoys singing and expresses a desire to develop as a musician. With members graduated from Hong Kong traditional schools like Diocesan Boys’ School, Belilios Public School, St. Paul’s Coeducation College, Ying Wa Girls’ School, St. Stephen’s Girls’ College, St. Paul’s College, Wah Yan College Kowloon, and also universities like the Hong Kong University and the Chinese University, the group was immediately invited by the HKSAR government to a celebration performance in early July 2010.
