The Ensemble prepares concerts twi...  moreVocaal Ensemble TIEN (Vocal Ensemble 'Ten') is an Amsterdam based a cappella chamber choir, founded in the mid '90s and consisting of ca 14 singers. All participants are vocally trained, some of which at music academies. The Ensemble prepares concerts twice a year, singing highly diverse repertoire, ranging from renaissance compositions to contemporary music and everything in between. TIEN cooperates with several conductors, each specialized in the repertoire and theme chosen for a programme, e.g. Fokko Oldenhuis, JanJoost van Elburg, Felix van den Hombergh, Sanne Nieuwenhuijsen and Nicky Bouwers.  less

It's of course a wink to my favorite musical movie - I must have watched it at least a dozen times. It keeps inspiring my love for singing. We mostly sing musical songs, but not exclusively. We are dedicated to making this a great amateur choir. But, as Mary Poppins sang: 'In every job that must be done / there is an element of fun / You find the fun / and SNAP the job's a game'

All members ...  moreInitially formed as part of a School-outreach program with the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble (QVE) in Newfoundland in 2009, Afterglow developed a love of 6-part a cappella music and began searching for new and challenging musical experiences. All members of QVE, the singers range in disciplines from Music to Engineering to the Arts. Afterglow performs frequently throughout St. John’s, including being featured guests on CBC Radio, local television, Festival 500, as well as community concerts and fundraisers. The group writes their own arrangements and began presenting full concerts last spring. Afterglow was one of 11 groups Selected world-wide to partake in the Small Vocal Ensembles component of international biennial Festival 500 in July 2011. This will include masterclasses and individual coaching sessions with Bob Chilcott and Finnish group, Rajaton. As a result of their acceptance, the group was awarded a substantial Professional Project Grant from the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council. Afterglow ...    less
