Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree, If mankind perished utterly; And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn Would scarcely know that we were gone. Sara Teasdale (1884 - 1933)  less

In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus, joining the choir in recording 4 of his pieces. This performance of Gjeilo's "Sanctus" is from that session. The other pieces were "Luminous Night of the Soul", & "Across The Vast, Eternal Sky", accompanied by the composer at the piano and joined by the Kairos Quartet -- the resident faculty string quartet at CWU. The final piece, "Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages", was recorded both in an unaccompanied rendition (how it is written and published) and in a version with Mr. Gjeilo improvising an accompaniment to the choir. This was Ola's second time on CWU's campus. His first visit was in the spring of 2011 and yielded 5 videos, a wide-ranging interview with the composer and other bonus material. It resulted in a DVD entitled "In the Moment", available for purchase at http://goo.gl/Xld0o) ...    less

Open your hearts and hear, Hear and listen, my brothers: Both you and I are full of dreams; You help me and I help you. That is how we will come to build a world anew. “With many hands, the load is light." “One finger alone cannot eat okra.” Knowledge and wealth are goods of humanity That we must share in true fellowship. These are statements that bring happiness; Words of wisdom that make life harvest. We are, each one of us, seeds of eternity That sprout and bloom in our humanity. Let us all work together for a world anew, A world more humane, a universe of love. Open your ears and lis...    less
