They have been featured ...  moreThe 1607 Ensemble is a closely-knit vocal quartet that was selected as young artists at the Brighton Early Music Festival in 2007, and has gone on to perform in festivals throughout the UK and internationally in Utrecht and Capri. They have been featured on BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’ and ‘The Early Music Show.’ The members of the 1607 Ensemble hail from Britain, Canada, and the US, and their diverse musical backgrounds and affinity for a variety of musical styles are evident in their music. Equally at home singing Renaissance music and jazz, they also write their own compositions and arrangements, often combining old and new styles in music tailored to their unique vocal colours. One of the Ensemble’s long-time interests has been the poetry of Clément Marot in 16th-century chanson. That Choir was formed in the spring of 2008 by Craig Pike and 14 of his actor friends who wanted to create and share a music experience together. That Choir now brings together over 25 members with diverse backgrounds in work and study, and a mixture of trained and untrained voices. New Canadian artists are important for That Choir to nurture and have already performed new works by J. Scott Brubacher as well as Reza Jacobs in December 2010. Also in December of 2010, That Choir invited Canadian Theatre Artist Nancy Palk to read Dylan Thomas's " A Child's Christmas in Wales" as part of That Choir Carols - an annual celebration of the Holidays. As That Choir looks forward into 2011, it is becoming well known for its a cappella repertoire of many styles and periods with a strong focus on storytelling.  less
