Casualidades trágicas que tiene el destino, justo por esas mismas fechas hacíamos nuestro primer acercamiento a esta obra y su autor, el japonés Kentaro Sato; que desde su Hamahatsu natal, la tierra de mis padres, la llamaba, comenzó a narrar su día a día tras la tragedia con unas comunicaciones cargadas de pena y resignación pero nunca exentas de esperanza. Y en eso se convirtió esta obra para nosotros, en un canto a la esperanza añadiendo, a su belleza intrísiseca, un plus emocional y epidérmico que surge inevitablemente en cada presentación. Ha sido tremendamente evocador y motivante que el propio Maestro Kentaro Sato, reprodujera nuestra interpretación en todos sus sitios web y la calificarara de "Splended". Las piruetas trágicas del destino de las que hablamos al principio, han querido que también mañana se conmemore el 9º Aniversario del atentado en el metro de Madrid. These diverse pie...  moreOn 20 June 2026 at 7.30pm Kingston Choral Society presents a summer programme focusing on the natural world. featuring music by Leonard Bernstein, Elgar, Holst, Howells, Parry, Purcell, Stanford and Dowland in his 400th anniversary year. These diverse pieces share a focus on the natural world. Part one of the concert delights in all things pastoral in a series of anthems, partsongs and folk songs. Part two introduces the ominous note of threats to nature, with Cecilia McDowall’s haunting cantata, The Ice is Listening. Inspired by accounts of seventeenth and eighteenth century frost fairs on the River Thames, this gorgeous work evokes nature’s fragile balance – a theme amplified by Raymond Yiu’s rich song cycle for soprano, The Earth and Every Common Sight, which urgently addresses the peril of climate change. The concert will be conducted by Andrew Griffiths, with Gavin Roberts playing organ and piano and the Soprano, Donna Lennard, performing the song cycle. During the choir’s existence, it has taken par...  moreFounded in June 1977, the present Whitehaven Male Voice Choir has established an enviable reputation among the musical world of male voices in Britain, along with appearances on local radio and television. During the choir’s existence, it has taken part in many musical festivals, and proven its quality by winning many first prizes, and has been joined in concert by world renowned soloists and choirs from Britain and America. Every year, the choir perform around twenty concerts throughout Cumbria, raising thousands of pounds for charitable organisations and other worthy causes. The services of the choir are provided entirely free of charge to the organisations they perform for. Outside the county they have performed in such notable venues as The Royal Albert Hall, London; on three occasions, Cardiff Arms Park; twice, Sheffield Arena and in Edinburgh.
