We have a few "under-aged" adults among us, and we love it! Our purpose is to reflect the image, veracity, and immutability of our Lord Jesus Christ through music, testimony, and personal commitment to those in the senior community and beyond.  less

Our repertoire is mainly classical a cappella but we have participated i...  moreWe started as as a group of former students of Helenes at The Stockholms Musikgymnasium but is now a completely mixed group with many different backgrounds. We rehearse once a week. Our repertoire is mainly classical a cappella but we have participated in arena concerts with Andrea Bocelli, Chess in concert, I Love Musicals, Zelda, Morricone and others. In 2016 we won the Cork Int Choral competition.

A joik is a unique form of cultural expression for the Sámi people (or Lapps - region stretches over four countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia). This type of song can be deeply personal or spiritual in nature, often dedicated to a human being, an animal, or a landscape as a personal signature. According to music researchers, joik is one of the longest living music traditions in Europe, and is the folk music of the Sámi people. Its sound is comparable to the traditional chanting of some Native American cultures. (Www.africanyouthchoir.org) This biennial project is organizing a technical course with cultural exchange during a Summer camp for two weeks in an African country. Then the choir is prepared to perform in major events in Africa, or to represent Africa in major festivals included in the global agenda of choral singing. The desire is to gather young singers from around Africa for integration through song, to enrich their cultural diversity, to to become messengers of peace on the continent and throughout the world, but also a model of multiculturalism. 40 singers from 10 african countries are selected after testing (16 to 26 years old) and work with an experienced conductor. Under the guise of other names, we have been in continuous existence for over 50 years and are currently conducted by the highly experienced and talented Dr Sarah Penicka-Smith. We meet on Monday nights at Trinity Chapel, Robert Menzies College from 7.00-9.30pm during school terms. There are no auditions and everyone is welcome, regardless of musical experience.
