The choir performs every Sunday evening in The Roman Catholic caThedral of St. Colman's, a majestic building situated on a hill in The town famed for being The last port of call for The Titanic. The membership of The choir has grown considerably in The last five years and it now boasts more than 30 voices. The choir is a previous winner at The world famous Cork Choral Festival and has travelled to Vienna, London and Italy to perform at various events. In 2009 The choir was honored to be asked to sing in St. Peter's Basilica in The Vatican City for The Sunday liturgy. That same year They also performed at Westminster CaThedral. They have been asked back to St. Peter's in July 2013 to perform again. The Choir of Somerville College Oxford, in its present form, was founded by Francis Knights and Sam Bayliss in 2001. The choir sings evensong every Sunday during term and performs in concerts organised by Somerville Music Society. The choir sings evensong every Sunday during term and performs in concerts organised by Somerville Music Society. Somerville Choir is currently being conducted by David Crown. He is assisted by The two organ scholars, Douglas Knight and Robert Pecksmith (http://www.robert-smith.org.uk ), and choir manager Stefan Schwarz. Since David Crown took over as Director of Chapel Music in 2007, The choir has been involved in two opera productions (Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas ' and Gluck's 'Orfeo ed Euridice') as well as concerts in Oxford, Brighton, Wells, Swindon, Upton upon Severn and Steeple Aston. In recent years The choir has also sung evensong at Southwark, Worcester, Winchester, Wells and Berlin CaThedrals.
