Looking for pulse-pounding tempos or soulful ballads? You've Come to the right Place. Our repertoire spans all musical genres, from barbershop standards to jazz and Broadway musical standards through to Pop and Rock music from the likes of Queen, Michael Jackson and The Eurythmics.

We are made up of around 60 women from all over Auckland, from a diverse range of backgrounds, ages and occupations who Come together to share a love of singing and performing. Open to beginners or those wishing to improve their technique with industry professionals from the UK.
Over 12 weeks students will follow a curriculum tailored to helping each student develop at their own speed in all three areas of the artform.
In Singing students will leave voice techniques, explore ensemble singing and perform a variety of repertoire. In acting students will learn how to develop character in scenes and songs, explore the physical journey of a character, improve stage presence and text analysis. In dance students will look at a variety of jazz techniques core to musical theatre dance as well as perform several musical theatre routines.
At the final class students will perform an in-studio showcase to invited friends and family to share the skills they have learned throughout the programme.

although of course the actual events took Place in rather warmer climes.
It also reflects much of the liturgical and popular symbolism of the Christmas season: robins, holly etc and it brings our thoughts towards the season of Easter with the blood of Good Friday.

The words of the song can be found in many Places on the Net, some more accurate than others. All of the Places are in Devon, except Callington, which is in Cornwall, but it is likely to be the correct Place since it is so close to the centre of the events - ie towns and villages North and West of Dartmoor.
(The Yetties' version of the song refers to "North Looe", but this is very unlikely to be correct, since Looe is much further into Cornwall).
In this the version I finally decided upon "North Lew" (a compromise between Quoditch's version and the Yetties' version):

Today, the Society has over 50 members, mostly drawn from Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, performing works from both the traditional repertoire and also from more contemporary composers.
The Luton Choral Society is registered by the Charity Commissioners (Reg. No. 290450) and is affiliated to Making Music Eastern Region which represents, supports and promotes amateur vocal and instrumental groups and music clubs throughout the United Kingdom.
