Himig Batingaw was founded in March of 1979 by members of the Legion of Mary. In the first few years of the Choir's existence, they conducted rehearsals at the church belfry; hence the name Himig (melody) and Batingaw (peal of bells) was born. The Choir is very influential in the rise and development of choral music in the parish. It has introduced new pieces for liturgical use most of which are composed or arranged for the group and has graduated noted local musicians from its ranks. In the past years, the chorale group has joined different chorale festivals and won in various competitions; namely, Himig ng Kabataan Alay Kay Don Bosco, Forte Chorale Competition in De La Salle – Dasmariñas Cavite, Vivere Hotel and Resorts Annual Chorale Competition, First Grand Chorale Competition in Imus City Mall, Wikawit: Tagisan ng Korong Kabitenyo. In 2019, the group bagged 2 awards: The Noel Bazaa...    less

How I wrote the composition Hope to process a miscarriage, or how I wrote I Will Lift My Eyes at a time when multiple family members, both young and old, were being diagnosed with cancer. No matter life’s challenges, music has always been an outlet for me to cope and heal. It has helped me to persevere and fight through some of life's most difficult moments, ultimately making me a stronger person. The world can be a challenging place, but each of us are warriors—armed with the gift to sing, and filled with the fire, passion, drive, and grit to conquer anything. For the past 18 years, TMC has provided and expanded access to great gospel music and gospel music education in Canada by a hard-working team of volunteers. We are looking forward to the excitement, the networking, the music and so many uplifting and engaging experiences! The past almost two years have indeed been challenging for our world but there have been some benefits—one of them has been the ability to expand our reach by putting PowerUp online in 2021! Preparing for PowerUp Gospel 2022, we decided to again have a virtual presentation of both weekends. Early bird registration is open until January 31St. Visit the PowerUp website to register and for more details about the event: https://powerupgospel.ca/register  less
