I had the honour of making the announcement on behalf of Archbishop Desmond and Mrs Leah Tutu, who have given me permission to develop the initiative around the world, in support of their own Justice, Peace and Reconciliation work. The Archbishop first heard Choir Invisible perform outside and inside the King's Hall, Stoke-on-Trent, on 11 July 2008, at a Civic Reception held in his honour. He was, quite simply, spellbound by the choir and an immediate rapport was established. Upon his arrival at the King's Hall, the harmony of the choir, singing a Swahili love song 'Malaika' (My Angel), caused him to stop and listen. We are a mixed-voice choir of around 30 singers, performing a wide variety of secular and sacred "classical"...  moreThe Micklegate Singers are one of the longest-standing chamber choirs in York, having recently celebrated our 50th anniversary season. We are a mixed-voice choir of around 30 singers, performing a wide variety of secular and sacred "classical"; choral music. We mainly sing a cappella, and tend to focus on lesser-known older works, and modern repertoire, often from living composers. However, this is by no means exclusive! The choir sings three main concerts per year, with a charity carol concert just before Christmas. We are also a sociable bunch, with regular social events and a number of 'spin-off' groups.  less

In a short time came to count 42 active members who are characterized by their love for quality choral music as well as their desire for further knowledge in the choral art! Within the first year of its operation, InDONNAtion accoplished first Panhellenic executions and suggested a different and original approach to choral music, as its repertoire includes beyond the classics and unique compositions that combine movement with sound. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the choir's name is a pun of the musical term Intonation (tonality of the sound) and the latin word Donna (woman).  less
