Currently numbering 18 Singers, FCC has a broad repertoire featuring everything from early music and traditional pieces to the works of contemporary composers such as Whitacre, Pärt, Lauridsen and McMillan, and is highly regarded at home and abroad. In 2011, we travelled to Trondheim, Norway, to take part in Sangforening, a major festival featuring hundreds of Norwegian choirs, and were the first ever foreign choir invited to take part. 2012 saw us visit Languedoc, France, where we gave concerts in beautiful old churches in Alzonne and Montréal, near Carcassonne. VI) of the Requiem that I composed in 2007, as performed by the Orlando Chamber Singers under the direction of Gregory Ruffer on May 18, 2008. I had wanted to write a requiem for quite some time, having been swept away by the Requiems of Brahms, Faure, Rutter, Durufle, Mozart and Daley. Under the leadership of Musical Director and soprano, Michelle Nova, the Singers perform an eclectic repertoire of classical, sacred, operatic and modern choral music. In recent years, the choir has championed contemporary composers writing specifically for the female voice, placing these pieces alongside classics by the likes of Fauré, Vivaldi, Mozart and Holst. The choir's unique sound is characterised by its vibrancy and fullness, a result of the 'Bel Canto' singing technique in which all the Singers are trained. New for 2026, the choir is inviting experienced Singers to join them - especially women with an alto or lower soprano range. Visit their website to find out more about the audition process. This is an ambitious choir that combines a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with high standards: a chance to make a real contribution.  less
