Th...  moreThe Koro San Isidro Labrador de CAA is the official Choir of San Isidro Labrador Chapel of Mary Queen of Apostles Parish (MQAP) located in the cities of Parañaque and Las Piñas. Formed on 1995, the Choir mainly sings at masses at the chapel every week. The members are composed of high school, college students and out of school youth and employees who lives in Timog, CAA, Las Piñas City that is why the former name of the Choir was Timog Youth Choir. The name was changed since the Choir started to expand its age range from 15-20 years old to open age as long as the member would fit the singing style of the Choir. The Choir usually held Christmas concerts and performs at quarterly general assembly of Choirs in the parish. Last June 2010, the Choir became the Champions of the first-ever Choral Competition of the MQAP in line with the parish’s 25th Anniversary wherein they bested other Choirs which comprises the whole parish. Since its formation in 1964, the Choir appears annually at the Welsh Proms and has performed with many of the world’s leading conductors, orchestras and soloists including: Sir Colin Davies; Sir Andrew Davies; Tadaaki Otaka; Owain Arwel Hughes; The London Symphony Orchestra; BBC National Orchestra of Wales; The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; Raphael Wallfisch, Luciano Pavarotti; Dame Kiri Te Kanawa; Felicity Lott and Bryn Terfel. We have also sung for both the Queen and Nelson Mandela. The Choir’s versatility has led to countless recordings and broadcasts on both Radio and Television, most recently on BBC Radio 4. Commissioning of new works remains high on the Choir’s artistic agenda alongside an active tradition of promoting the work of Welsh composers, notably that of William Mathias, Alun Hoddinott, Geraint Lewis, John Metcalf & Mervyn Burtch.
