Spera means Hope in Latin, and it is a members’ shared vision on music. All members studied a sacred choral music under Koji Oguchi, choir director, when they were high school students. They were deeply touched by Oguchi’s music and established the Ensemble Choir SPERA. Making its debut in concert in March 2014 at Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall, SPERA’s music was highly prized and well-reviewed in newspapers. It serves in Masses and services and performs in concerts as an ecumenical choir, composed of students from Kitasato University, International Christian University, Hitotsubashi University and Rikkyo University. It is open to all no matter what musical background, if any you may have. We "sing for the the sheer joy of it" and do local concerts. Recently we have sung at a large church inter-denominational christmas gathering and the highlight of the year to sing at a wedding at the request of the Bride and Groom.

(The Yetties' version of the Song refers to "North Looe", but this is very unlikely to be correct, since Looe is much further into Cornwall).
