From 1997 to the end of 2000 the Prefecture of Thessaloniki had the choir under its auspices and supported it morally and materially. However other bodies of the city helped it as well like : The Ministry of Culture, of National Defense, of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace, the Greek Committee of UNESCO, private educational institutions, well known businessmen active in town and Press organizations. It typically assembles a choir for a brief Time before each performance, then disbands until just before the next concert when a new choir is formed. The singers may or may not be the same each Time. The choir is known for its freshness of sound and heart felt connections with the listener.
