It was born thanks to its director, Ludovico (Dodo) Versino, who instilled the love for choral music in High School students all across Rome, which led them all to become friends. It doesn’t have an exact date of birth, because it began as a way to get together, rather than as a formal Choir. They don’t have a uniform, a fixed meeting place, or a specific repertoire genre. Only one thing is certain: they tell their story through their singing, so come listen the coro che non c’è  less

We are made up of 3 different Choirs - Mixed Chorus, Treble Choir, and Concert Choir. All of our members are students at Port Huron Northern High School and range from 13-18 years of age. We all share a love of music and create joy through singing together.

They have been auditioned and selected from a program of 250 singers and identified as the cream of the crop based on their beauty of vocal tone, musical intelligence, sight reading ability and academic achievement. They are also instrumentalists, actors, athletes, student leaders and ambassadors of LSHS. Most importantly, they are students who are DEDICATED to being the best they can be. As a result of these High standards, Sounds of Summit has developed a reputation in Lee’s Summit and around the nation as one of the elite High School level performing ensembles. We are frequently asked to perform with UMKC’s Conservatory, as well as multiple appearances at the Missouri Music Educators Convention. We are also in High demand with community groups for performances around Christmas time. We welcome experienced SATB singers who are keen to perform music of all genres to a High standard in an informal environment. Our ethos: CONTEXT Historical, social and environmental contexts of music, and the influence of these on performance, will be Central to rehearsals and concerts. They will define the themes of our repertoire each year. COLLABORATION Based in Leeds, the Choir has numerous opportunities to collaborate with other ensembles, composers and charities to promote and support musicians throughout the North. Johansen Choirs are truly honored to re...  more The Johansen High School Vocal Music Department provides our students the opportunity to perform great choral literature while entertaining local audiences and performing at a variety of civic and community events. Johansen Choirs are truly honored to represent our community in various capacities as well as having the opportunity to tour throughout California, often giving students their first experience outside of Stanislaus County. We are excited that nearly 60 students will participate in the vocal music program at Johansen High School this year. Last year our Choirs participated in multiple festivals, sang by invitation at many local events and toured San Diego. The department’s Viking Singers won a contest this summer and sang on stage with Foreigner at the County Fair. These talented students have been invited to participate in Gallo Center for the Arts first ever a cappella festival in April 2013.  less
