Kikimasu (grades 4-6) offers a focus on thorough and excellent music education, with singers learning about healthy Vocal production, the body-voice connection, and vibrant performance presence, as well as ant emphasis on musical literacy, music theory, and sightsinging skills. As with all our ensembles, Kikimasu provides a secure and accepting social environment where all singers feel their importance as members of the group. Most importantly, Kikimasu has fun and creates exciting music! Kikimasu means “hear it” in Japanese; you can look forward to hearing the music they make at every concert!  less

Our mission as an ensemble is to connect with the community and each other through the exploration of quality choral music, including the promotion of women composers, within an engaging, encouraging, and intergenerational environment focused on healthy Vocal technique and artistic excellence. Today it comprises 23 selected singers, Cantilena meaning "lightweight song", deriving from the Latin word for "song" or "melody". Whenever possible, during concerts the members of the Choir wear a pearl necklace to represent the significance of the activities pursued: each member of the Choir is represented by one of the pearls, with the strand linking them all being the music - the main purpose of so much hard work to achieve artistic quality. As well as being an extremely feminine accessory, it also illustrates the quality, refinement, finish and musical beauty that the Academia Concerto pursues.
