This is the encore performance from Cuore's 'Mirabilia' concert on 27th April 2024, at which we were privileged to give the Irish premiere. 'In taberna quando sumus' (‘when we are in the tavern’) begins as a militaristic account of the immoral acts of the inebriated crowd, and the march soon descends into anarchy with a list of merrymakers joining in the mischief: included are mistress, master, priest, pauper, men, women, white, black, the Pope, old ladies, mothers, children, merchants, Christians, the smart, and the lazy. The composer writes: “In my imagination, the piece is a fusion of primal energy, irony, and dark grotesque, envisioning an ecstatic celebration akin to a lively party at Bacchus’ house.”. He fuses percussive lyrics, energetic rhythms and sometimes almost drunken modulations to capture this raucous mood.  less

En 2010 obtuvo el diploma de Bronce en la Octava Competencia Internacional de Coros de Elsenfeld, Alemania. Director: Andrés Aciar The Choir of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters - Buenos Aires University- is a grouping conformed by both students of this institution of higher education and members of the community. Their members perform this activity in vocational fashion and the great majority of them has main occupations and studies that are not related to musical activity. We perform for many organizations in and around the Western Pennsylvania area. Anyone wishing to sing is welcome and invited to come to a rehearsal prior to committing to the group. No auditions are necessary. We also sing in a yearly competition called Saengerfest held in June each year. Members chorus' are: Altoona, Williamsport, Reading, Lebanon and Mon Yough. Each chorus hosts the competition on a rotating basis. Rehearsals are held each Sunday at Sampsons MIlls Presbyterian Church at 1665 Lincoln Way in White Oak, PA 15131 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Mon Yough Chorale was formerly known as the Mon Yough Community Singers. The Mon Yough Chorale has a long history in the Mon Valley. The organization started as The McKeesport Choraliers in 1962 merging with the White Oak Community Singers in 2001 becoming the Mon Yough Community Singers. The Choir was formed in 1986 initially to provide a choir for Midnight Eucharist on Christmas Eve, but since then we have become an established part of the Wells Cathedral scene, and now sing 40 to 50 of the regular services throughout the year, as well as some of the festival services which include a Requiem Mass on All Soul’s Day. We are an amateur auditioned choir of 30 and strive for a high standard, so for potential members it is important to have a reasonable sight-singing ability. We rehearse regularly throughout the year on a Thursday evening. The music we perform is very varied and as well as psalms we sing a wide range of canticles, masses and anthems of all genres so “Variety is the spice of life”! There is no membership fee, as we are fortunate to be supported financially with grants from the Cathedral Chapter and the Friends of Wells Cathedral.
