The objective was to bring about musical performances...  moreThe LAZ EKWUEME CHORALE was founded in October 1974 with a view to getting together in a small choir the best available and professionally trained Singers in Lagos, the then Federal Capital of Nigeria. The objective was to bring about musical performances (of choral works by foreign and Nigerian composers) of sufficiently high standard for international consumption, within the limitations of national resources. The CHORALE which has grown in size to over 100 Singers has given numerous concerts in Lagos and other towns in Nigeria, including Aba, Abakaliki, Abeokuta, Abuja, Benin, Calabar, Eket, Enugu, Ibadan, Ife, Nsit Atai, Oko, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Umuahia and Uyo. It has performed many times on Radio and Television and has featured on many State, National and International functions. It was the nucleus of the Nigerian National Choir for FESTAC 77. Recorded live on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Performed by the Lyric Choir Ensemble of the Girl Choir of South Florida. Leonard Bernstein was on his honeymoon in 1951 when he began composing his one-act opera "Trouble in Tahiti", a candid portrait of the troubled marriage of a young suburban couple. This aria is sung by Dinah during Scene 3 where, in her analyst's office, she is seeking counseling - unbeknownst to her husband Sam - in an attempt to repair their deteriorating marriage. Dinah recalls a dream of an untended garden choked with weeds. In the dream she hears a voice calling to her describing a beautiful garden, a place of love and harmony, which she tries desperately to find. Her dream ends before she can find it.  less
