It was established on July 2013 by music educator and conductor Mr. Aristeo B. Butial through the help of their principal Mr. Willy D. Federico and head teacher of MAPEH Department Mr. Emeterio S. Vargas Jr. It became one of the pillars of performing arts in the said school promoting culture and arts through choral music. In addition, they hail from eleven different states in the Union: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and, of course, Washington, D.C. The group actually began in October 2005 recording a small project of a cappella hymns (The Hymn Project) as a Christmas gift for one of their mothers. The Ensemble, directed by Jason Asbury, is a community chorus based in Brooklyn Heights. The 75-member Ensemble meets in Brooklyn and is made up of neighbors who range in skill from semi-professional to newbies! Concerts include well known and little-known masterpieces of choral literature from Early Music to Contemporary composers and commissions by Brooklyn musicians. It is well known as an iconic music venue attracting major artists. It is also a centre for social justice and community activities. In recent years, the church has been developing music in our Sunday services with a range of genres, classical, jazz, gospel, and world music. The church has also created several unique events led by our musicians. These have included our annual Christmas Candlelight service, Good Friday evening performances and smaller events to commemorate such occasions as Black History Month, a remembrance event in the Covid pandemic. Besides the usual church festivals, we also have special services for Refugee Week, Gay Pride, Holocaust Memorial, and other special commemorations. The organisation was set up by professional conductor, Emma Rowland, who suffers with anxiety and depression. Emma wanted to make Choirs, and singing, more accessible to everyone. During the COVID lockdown, SOS has been offering FREE virtual Choirs to the entire world. We're currently (June 2020) in 80 countries and working with thousands of singers each week. We've just launched our fourth project, an original song, ready to be made into a virtual Choir video.  less
