With styles ranging from pop to gospel, we're sure there's something to suit your taste. Come and join us on Tuesday evenings at the University of Chichester, where we rehearse. We aim to give two/three concerts a year – we hope you can be in the next one! We are a group of ladies with ages ranging from early 20s to 50s. We usually run around the school holidays as we have a few mums but can run in the holidays as well if enough people are available. We charge per half term which works out at £5.50 a week when you commit to the whole half term. Please contact us if you would like to come so we can let you know which room we will be in.  less

It was first created by a few friends in 1991, then enlarged over the years. It has been conducted by Stephan Nicolay since 2004. The Choir aims to share quality music and new experiences with the audience. That is why La Sestina often performs with crossover arts on a main theme e.g. French Renaissance chansons in 16th century clothes with an actress, a cappella sacred contemporary music with dancers and video projection, Baroque French music with chamber orchestra and a lecturer, medieval Spanish music with mediterranean ensemble of lutes and percussions, etc. Also, the Choir aims at supporting humanitarian and social actions by offering one or several concerts each year. Many international NGO have benefited from these charity concerts such as Unicef, Unesco, Amnesty International, Red Cross, Médecins Sans Frontières and so on, but also very local associations. We welcome experienced SATB singers who are keen to perform music of all genres to a high standard in an informal environment. Our ethos: CONTEXT Historical, social and environmental contexts of music, and the influence of these on performance, will be central to rehearsals and concerts. They will define the themes of our repertoire each year. COLLABORATION Based in Leeds, the Choir has numerous opportunities to collaborate with other ensembles, composers and charities to promote and support musicians throughout the North. We hope to work with a variety of musicians to develop quality and future collaboration within the Choir. COMMUNICATION No music?! Yes, we will perform without sheet music in concerts. Hailing from places as far afield as Truro and Coverack and ranging in age from thirty-something to eighty-something they unite once a week in Penryn to indulge and nurture their love of singing. The women of Mabe Ladies Choir take their music making very seriously, constantly striving to achieve the highest artistic and technical standards. That said, they do spend an inordinate amount of time laughing! Whether it’s in the rehearsal room or the concert hall the emphasis is on fun & enjoyment, for Choir and audience alike.
