The Choir has performed throughout Scotland and beyond, with music covering all periods and most styles. Critically acclaimed, and attracting capacity audiences, at the Edinburgh Fringe and elsewhere, the Choir is regularly invited to perform at prominent events and has been broadcast on BBC Radio (3, 4 and Scotland) and Classic FM. Cadenza’s most recent CD - Bright Star: Cadenza at Christmas – was reviewed in Classical Music Magazine and included in Breakfast on 3’s Advent Calendar in December 2013. Jenny Sumerling became Musical Director in 2000 and under her direction Cadenza has gone from strength to strength. Ben Parry, Director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain has been Cadenza’s Patron since 2003. Ensemble Laude is a community of women united by a passion for choral music and the vision of our Artistic Director, Elizabeth MacIsaac. We celebrate the beauty and resilience of women’s vocal traditions through the ages and seek to share this art form through joyful, soulful, and life-enhancing performances that gladden the heart, lift the spirit, and expand the mind. Ensemble Laude began in 1998 with a group of 12 singers focused solely on medieval music. It has since expanded into a vibrant community Choir of over 50 vocalists. Today, our concerts offer an eclectic repertoire, mostly unaccompanied, encompassing early music, sacred and secular works, and folk and world music. FHCS was formed in 1951 and has grown into an ambitious 100-strong Choir. Membership is open to anyone with or without choral experience. We aim for high standards, and of course strong singers are always valued – but you don’t have to be able to read m...  moreFHCS was formed in 1951 and has grown into an ambitious 100-strong Choir. Membership is open to anyone with or without choral experience. We aim for high standards, and of course strong singers are always valued – but you don’t have to be able to read music, and there are no auditions. The age range of members stem from 20 to over 70 so there is room for everyone. If you’re not sure which voice part you are then Christopher Wray, our Musical Director, can help you with this. The Choir performs three public concerts each year, at Easter, in the Summer and at Christmas. We also support the local communities by singing at various events and this includes raising funds for charities. Each year we also sing away from London which combines singing to another community, or combining a performance with their Choir, with a fun day out.
