A restless, energetic SATB piece suitable for collegiate choirs. A driving piano part--influenced by minimalism and rock music--provides a rhythmic impetus for more expansive, colorful vocal lines. At turns frenzied, lyrical, and visceral, this piece pays disillusioned tribute to that not-so-glamorous icon of the open road, the Greyhound bus.

The ensemble performs masterworks of the Choral-orchestral repertoire such as Beethoven's 9th Symphony and Orff's Carmina Burana, as well as opera choruses, a cappella repertoire, and works specially composed for them. Performances include world-renowned guest soloists and musicians. The ensemble is directed by internationally acclaimed conductor and composer Steven Sametz. Lehigh University Choral Union has performed at New York's Carnegie Hall and has toured internationally in China, Portugal, Hawaii, Italy, Spain, Austria and Hungary. No audition is required but the ability to read music is helpful.  less

Roots Chorale started out as an Initiative to keep the Choral practice alive outside of the church circles and to promote these practices in the community of San Andres Islands Archipelago.

To promote excellence in community music making, the Choral masterworks of both known and lesser known composers, the continuing musical and vocal development of its membership and to enhance access to Choral music for all segments of the community.

(Www.africanyouthchoir.org) T...  moreUnder the auspices of the African Confederation for Choral Music, the African Youth Choir (AYC) was established on 8 April 2012 in Libreville, at the Initiative of choir directors and officers of African choirs associations. (Www.africanyouthchoir.org) This biennial project is organizing a technical course with cultural exchange during a Summer camp for two weeks in an African country. Then the choir is prepared to perform in major events in Africa, or to represent Africa in major festivals included in the global agenda of Choral singing. The desire is to gather young singers from around Africa for integration through song, to enrich their cultural diversity, to to become messengers of peace on the continent and throughout the world, but also a model of multiculturalism. 40 singers from 10 african countries are selected after testing (16 to 26 years old) and work with an experienced conductor.
