The "Ladies of Melody Choir" was founded in the city of Tartus in November 2022 by Maestro Bishr Issa, a graduate of the Higher Institute of Music and a Musician in the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra. He was also the former conductor of the "Chamber Choir of the High Institute of Music" in Damascus, and the conductor of the "Urjwan Choirs" in Tartous. The main goal of establishing the "Ladies of Melody Choir" was to highlight the role of Arab women in the cultural and Musical scene, introduce the culture of choral and collective singing in its contemporary concept to the local artistic culture, and revive the authentic Musical heritage of the Levant and the Arab world, which has begun to disappear and decline in the face of superficiality and degradation dominating the general Arab artistic scene. Usually consisting of 20 to 24 members, the Chorale focuses primarily on chamber Choir repertoire and tackles a wide variety of styles, languages, and techniques. Chorale membership is reserved for students who demonstrate some level of Music-reading ability, experience singing in advanced choral ensembles, and/or the potential to thrive in a small, advanced chamber Choir environment. During the audition process, careful attention is given to maintaining artistic balance among the sections of the chorus. In addition to performances throughout the academic year, students in Chorale are expected to remain on campus for an additional week after the conclusion of each spring semester to perform in Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies and participate in end-of-year touring activities.  less

We are an auditioned chamber Choir of 30-40 members who love sharing the joy of choral singing with each other and our community. Our regular season consists of at least 4 concerts featuring a variety of Musical genres and styles. Because we seek to create meaningful Musical experiences, we value interaction and education in our performances. Our audience members often tell us how much they love learning about the Music from our director’s comments, which help them more fully enter into the Music and enjoy it.  less

It is supported by a smaller, auditioning Fulham Camerata Ensemble which is made up of professional and semi-professional singers, allowing the main Camerata to tackle exciting repertoire and maintain high Musical standards while fostering the careers of young professionals. The Choir also offers choral scholarships to promising young soloists which provides vocal support for the amateur Choir, and fosters career development for the scholars. The amateur and ensemble groups come together for at least three main concerts a year with additional Christmas concerts, sometimes with orchestra. The amateur Choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 – 9.30pm  less

To begin with I wasn't sure, since they seemed somewhat re...  moreOn Christmas Eve morning 2017, I was approached by a member of our congregation who said he had been inspired by the Holy Ghost to write some words and that he would like me to set them to Music. To begin with I wasn't sure, since they seemed somewhat repetitive, but as the day progressed to the early afternoon I found that I was also inspired (I even missed lunch!). The piece varies in mode from D Dorian to A Aeolian. The performance is by me (multi-tracking).
