Supported by some of New York’s finest freelance orchestra players, the Choral Society’s concerts are designed to bring the arts directly to the community through the uniquely inclusive medium of choral singing. The Choral Society is in residence at Grace Church in New York, one of the city’s most beloved landmarks.

We have won every single competition we have taken part in so far and are looking to improve our game and become better at what we do. We are currently preparing for our own show titled "The Vocal Project" which will feature almost all know genera of music. Well what better way to find out more about us than come listen to us? With a membership of 65-70 musicians from throughout the campus, this ensemble is quickly becoming recognized for its musical excellence. Recent concerts have included Johann Sebastian Bach’s Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations and Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. Strong sight-reading skills and musicianship are important to membership. This ensemble is directed by Dr. Jonathan Babcock, associate director of choral activities. Sure on this Shining Night 在這閃亮的夜晚 美國作家艾吉(James Agee, 1909-1955)是美國四O年代重要的小說家、編劇、電影評論與詩人，在他去世後才出版的傳記小說《A Death in the Family》使他榮獲1958年的普立茲獎。此曲歌詞節錄自〈描述天堂〉(Description of Elysium)一詩，收錄在1934年出版的「允許我遠航」(Permit Me Voyage)詩集中。 勞律森將此詩譜寫成為混聲四部合唱曲，配合詩作藉著景物抒懷，在歌詞shining（閃亮）一字，運用花腔式（一字對多音）的...    less

Founded in February 2008 in order to bring polished intimate and historical choral music to local communities, VAE regularly performs in Northern CA and has toured abroad in Ireland. Richly themed programs celebrate the elegant beauty of Renaissance motets, tonal color of modern works, and exotic flavor of music from other cultures. VAE relies exclusively on donations at concerts to defray costs. Singers volunteer their time and talents but are not required to pay dues.  less
