The cornerstone of the Chorus is traditional boychoir music including sacred and secular pieces spanning the Middle Ages to the present. The Chorus incorporates songs and ballads of the American Southwest and other repertoire into its program in a unique way. Costumed as cowboys the boys sing the songs of the saddle and showcase their trick rodeo roping. The Chorus also performs contemporary music including Broadway show tunes, international songs, holiday music and modern favorites. Boosting about 190 c...  moreFor 40 years, the Hamilton Children's Choir (HCC) has provided ways to participate and experience the joys and benefits of singing in a choir – believing that "If you can speak, you can sing." Boosting about 190 choristers ages 5 to 18, the HCC offers youth vocal training and music instruction to foster creative expression and appreciation of music. Its latest choir program, Lads & Gents, is a boys choir program that provides young male singers (ages 8 to 28) with an opportunity to explore their choral instrument within a safe, supportive environment, surrounded by other boys and young men. An internationally-acclaimed and award-winning choir, the HCC has been invited to tour across Canada, Europe and more recently Saint-Lô, France for the Polyfollia concert (Oct. 21-26, 2014), a biennial world showcase and marketplace for choral singing. During the choir’s existence, it has taken part in many musical festivals, and proven its quality by winning many first prizes, and has been joined in concert by world renowned soloists and choirs from Britain and America. Every year, the choir perform around twenty concerts throughout Cumbria, raising thousands of pounds for charitable organisations and other worthy causes. The services of the choir are provided entirely free of charge to the organisations they perform for. Outside the county they have performed in such notable venues as The Royal Albert Hall, London; on three occasions, Cardiff Arms Park; twice, Sheffield Arena and in Edinburgh. With styles ranging from pop to gospel, we're sure there's something to suit your taste. Come and join us on Tuesday evenings at the University of Chichester, where we rehearse. We aim to give two/three concerts a year – we hope you can be in the next one! We are a group of ladies with ages ranging from early 20s to 50s. We usually run around the school holidays as we have a few mums but can run in the holidays as well if enough people are available. We charge per half term which works out at £5.50 a week when you commit to the whole half term. Please contact us if you would like to come so we can let you know which room we will be in.  less
