Sectional rehearsals are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays (11 to 11:50AM).  

Member of the Barbershop Harmony Society since 1960. Mainly a show-oriented group, we also enter district competition once a Year. Our mission: Singing and sharing barbershop harmony for enjoyment and good will.

During the tenure of Principal Major Harry L. Reed the Choir won the prestigious R. Meaden Shield(Senior) for Singing for 10 successive Years from 1920 to 1931, once with a perfect score of 200/200. the College Anthem ‘School of our Fathers’, composed by Principal Reed made its debut at this competition on the 13th day of July, 1928 and to this day takes responsibility of preserving the College Anthem. the Choir was trained by Mrs. Reed with the support of Robert C. Edwards, Esq. the Choir today continues to sing at many major events in and out of College, the most significant out of which being the Annual Carol Service. It is currently trained by the eminent Ms. Sureka Amerasinghe.  less

Scholars have debated whether the Odes should be considered Jewish, Christian or Gnostic, and whether they were first written in Greek, Hebrew or Syriac. Early Christian writings refer to and quote from them. A Syriac manuscript containing the text of most of the Odes was discovered in 1909 by the English scholar J. Rendel Harris, and other partial texts in various languages have also been found. there are 42 Odes. Some fragments are still missing from Odes I and III, and no part of Ode II has yet been found. For these choral settings, I selected text from four of the Odes of Solomon which I found particularly compelling. the anonymous translation I have used comes from the Gnostic Society Library.  less
