Supported by some of New York’s finest freelance orchestra players, the Choral Society’s concerts are designed to bring the arts directly to the community through the uniquely inclusive medium of choral singing. We perform to a high standard and have a friendly but hardworking atmosphere. There is no audition but some previous experiece, past or present, and the ability to read music can be very helpful. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings, 7:45pm to 9:45pm, at St Andrew's Community Church, Hall Street, Stockport, SK1 4DU. With a membership of 65-70 musicians from throughout the campus, this ensemble is quickly becoming recognized for its musical excellence. Recent concerts have included Johann Sebastian Bach’s Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations and Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. Strong sight-reading skills and musicianship are important to membership. This ensemble is directed by Dr. Jonathan Babcock, associate director of choral activities.
