All sessions run from 1pm to 4pm, and are being held at Phoenix Community Centre, Brighton, BN2 9ND (except 08/11/2015) I am running five sessions. Everyone is welcome, and no previous singing experience is necessary. Each session will introduce new songs, as well as continuing to work on a core repertoire. The choir, which began at Brigham Young University as an early music Ensemble, transformed into one of The premier non-collegiate chamber groups in The Western United States. This award-winning Ensemble achieves high performance Standards by drawing on The rich musical heritage of The region. Many Cantorum singers have solo careers and all have sung with top collegiate Ensembles. A number have also sung as members of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Utah Chamber Artists, and Salt Lake Vocal Artists. In addition, Cantorum is proud to have a high representation of talented choral educators. The group won both of its categories at The 2016 Interkultur competition and received special commendation for Their performance of Dale Warland and Hugo Distler. The singers have set Themselves The target to present Their listeners a wide musical spectrum. Their repertoire consists of Vocal music from Renaissance and Baroque to Romanticism to The 20th and 21st century. Important elements are works of Jacobus Gallus, Michael Praetorius, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Francis Poulenc and Rudolf Mauersberger. In addition They also perform with popular music. Music of The “Comedian Harmonists”, “The Beatles”, Billy Joel or The German group “Wise Guys” are also an essential part of Their repertoire.
