Music Matters Inclusive Community Choirs was established by our Musical Director, Gráinne O'Grady in April 2012 Our motto is: "One Choir, One Community, No Divides, ALL Abilities" The aim of Music Matters and our inclusiv...  moreMusic Matters Inclusive Community Choirs was established by our Musical Director, Gráinne O'Grady in April 2012 Our motto is: "One Choir, One Community, No Divides, ALL Abilities" The aim of Music Matters and our inclusive community choir projects is to unite all of our members through the universal language of music - regardless of previous musical experience, ability, language, socio-economic status or other barriers which may prevent our members from being able to fully participate in other musical groups. Our choral projects include: inclusive community choirs for people with and without disabilities, choirs specifically for adults with intellectual disabilities, and choirs for older people, with a particular focus on those with dementia and memory loss. There are now a total of ten choirs operating in the Dublin area, with more planned for 2015! Artistic Director: Wallis Peterson. The joik is a unique form of cultural expression for the Sami people in northern Scandinavia. Each joik is meant to reflect a person or place. This does not mean that it is a song about the person or place, but that the joiker is attempting to transfer "the essence" of that person or place into song—one joiks their friend, not about their friend. This joik is the essence of a young boy's dream of riding through the snow on the back of a reindeer.  less
